ThinStone Conference Explored Thin Veneer Production
Event held February 26th, 2009 St. Cloud, MN, April 3, 2009: Park Industries hosted a ThinStone conference at their corporate offices on February 26th, 2009 for stone fabricators considering the move into thin veneer production. The conference brought together shops from across the United States and Canada for a one-day lecture with two days of machine demonstration opportunities. Park Architectural Machinery Sales Manager, Jeff Walerius presented information regarding the state of thin stone in the industry. Presentations from industry-leading suppliers included tips on blade selection, water management considerations, and packaging options for thin stone. A special feature of the conference was a presentation by a thin stone fabrication shop in the Southwest. This allowed attendees to have an opportunity to ask questions from a fabricator’s point of view. Plenty of time was allowed for hands-on demonstrations of splitting stone for veneer production along with several demonstrations using a Park ThinStone TXS-4500 machine to create flats and corner pieces.
