Park’s Digital Stoneworking Expo Highlights New Shop Processes and Developments
St. Cloud, MN, June 17, 2010: Park Industries hosted a Digital Stoneworking Expo on June 17th, 2010. The expo was a strategic planning session for countertop fabricators considering the move to digital production systems. The expo brought together shops from across the United States and Canada for a one-day educational seminar to learn how digital fabrication can reduce production cost, improve process control, and create marketing advantages to improve their business profitability. Industry leading fabricators such as Paul Menninger, of Capitol Granite & Marble from Midlothian, VA and Stuart Young of The Granite Shop from Calgary, Canada presented information to stone countertop fabricators. Menninger, 2008 Stone World Fabricator of the Year, spoke about the “Bottom Line” impact of implementing digital technology into his fabrication process and shared many of his financial results. Young focused on the “Transformation of a Manual Shop into a Digital Shop,” and shared many of his experiences and financial results as well. Product demonstrations from industry-leading suppliers included Laser Products Digital Templating Systems and Slabsmith Digital Photo Layout & Slab Inventory Software. Park Application Engineer, Matt Binsfeld explained how the entire digital fabrication process works with the industry-leading PATHFINDER software system, the FUSION 4045 CNC Saw/Waterjet and the TITAN 1800 CNC Stonecenter. Park’s President, Tom Schlough, said of the event, “It’s a great way to understand how all the pieces of digital stoneworking technology work together. We had attendees thank us for the candid and open information presented over the course of the day.” Andy Kohlepp, of JA Kohlepp & Sones, Dubois, PA stated, “I needed to make a change within my business. I attended Park’s Digital Stoneworking Expo and visited with other fabricators who had implemented digital technology. I was amazed with the results they had reported. I did my own math and decided to invest. Almost immediately, I saw my fabrication costs decline which allowed me to be more competitive in this price sensitive environment.” Call Park Industries at (800)328-2309 or check www.parkindustris.com to find out when the next Digital Expo Event is scheduled.EDITOR/REPORTER NOTES: Park Industries is the largest manufacturer of stone working equipment in North America with headquarters and two manufacturing facilities in St. Cloud, Minnesota
