Case Study | DTK Stone Works
May 9, 2017
On December 20, 2004 DTK Stone Works installed their very first kitchen countertop. The 1,500 sq. ft. shop of 2004 has flourished into the 10,000 sq. ft. shop today. Dimitre Koldanov, owner of DTK, has worked hard to grow his business. His expertise in stonework has evolved over the past 12 years and he has developed a reputation for precise, quality craftsmanship.
Dimitre was born in Bulgaria, moved to the U.S. at 16 years old, and graduated High School with English as his secondary language. He has been a U.S. citizen for the last 20 years and he could not be more proud. When customers walk through his shop and see the giant American flag spread across the mighty FUSION®, their eyes light up. Dimitre shares a love and pride for American made products with his customers.
In 2004 DTK began operations with the SIERRA® Bridge Saw from Park Industries®. It is still used and appreciated by the staff today, but the day came when it was just too slow to keep up with the fabrication growth DTK was experiencing. Dimitre made the decision to upgrade to the FUSION® CNC Saw/Waterjet and Park Industries was called to assist.
Since 2008 DTK has been experiencing a sizable increase in sales because Dimitre brought his wife Tzvetelina into the office to market the company and handle organization elements of running a fast-paced business. Together they have made DTK Stone Works a familiar name in the Chicagoland area.
Dimitre and Tzvetelina were amazed at the training they received on the FUSION® after purchase and before installation. They traveled to Park Industries® in Minnesota and were given thorough and easy instructions on the operation of the new system they would be using.
When Dimitre hears ‘Park Industries®’ the first thought that comes to mind is quality with precision and peace of mind. He knows that, without a doubt, Park Industries® will never let him down. The saw they depended on for 10+ years came with a customer service support team that puts the customer first, every time. Dimitre declares, “Park Industries®’ customer service is unparalleled. Every time I call you, you are there for me. If I have a problem at 2 a.m., I know Park will answer that call. It doesn’t matter the time, we work out the problems.”
Other manufacturers have offered their machines at a cheaper price, but even if they are considered “better” than Park, Dimitre will not buy it. He understands that while you may save money upfront, the real cost is downtime. With Park Industries®, you pay for little to no downtime with their service. If there is downtime of 5-7 days waiting on parts, you lose any money initially “saved” upfront.
Dimitre contacted Dale from Park Industries®, the man who had sold him the SIERRA® Saw 10 years prior. The FUSION® blew him away with how fast it cut and the amount of square footage it can produce. With this new addition, DTK produces about 1,000 sq. ft. a week on commercial projects. Walking in to the shop and watching the FUSION® work puts a smile on everyone’s face. They could not be happier with their FUSION® and Park Industries®.
