Common operation occurrences for a new Saberjet

Ultra High Pressure Leaks

During the first few months of operation, it is common for some connection points to become loose, and leak water. As your machine cycles from no pressure to high pressure, this causes the metal components to expand and retract, which can result in connections coming loose. To correct this simply tighten the connection point as outlined

Garnet Flow Adjustments

The garnet delivery system, which brings garnet from the main bulk tank to the mini hopper, uses air pressure to push the garnet through the system. The air pressure needed to push a constant flow of garnet varies on every machine. It may take some time to establish the precise pressure setting on the bulk tank for your setup.

Once garnet is delivered to the mini hopper, the delivery from the mini hopper to the cutting head is based mainly on gravity, and a small amount of vacuum at the cutting head. The amount of garnet leaving the mini hopper is critical, and the routing of the hose from the mini hopper to the cutting head is critical. These items may need some adjustment based upon each machine setup.

See setup help in either Abrasive Regulator Hose Routing or Garnet Flow Restricted Alarms

Intensifier Over Cycle Alarms (Over Stroke)

The intensifier is what creates the high pressure water by a piston stroking back-n-forth. The timing of this back-n-forth stroking is monitored, and if timing is off, an "Over-Cycle” alarm is generated. This generally means some form of routine maintenance is required. For help, see Over-Cycle alarms

High Pressure Seals

It is common for high pressure seals to need to be changed within the first few months of running. The life of these high pressure seals is dependent on several variables, such as water quality, type of orifice being used, & number of on/off cycles. A video on how to change seals is available through the Hypertherm App and Parkindustries.com

Blade to WaterJet Cut Alignment

If your blade cuts and water jet cuts don’t lineup, there are some calibration processes that need to be done to correct this. Depending on the situation, one or all of the following procedures need to be performed. The first, most common solution, is to do the Blade Offset Cut described in the “Maintenance Procedures” part of your machine maintenance tasks. If that does not correct the issue, the 2nd step would be the “Blade/Nozzle TCP Verification Procedure, also found in the “Maintenance Procedures” mentioned above. The step if needed would be the full blade/jet dialing process. A video is available for that process, and written instruction are in the Operators Manual on page 200
