First-Time Buyer’s Guide to Purchasing Stone Machinery

|

Purchasing your first stone fabrication machine is an exciting step toward growing your business. Whether you’re expanding your capabilities or automating manual processes, it’s important to understand everything that goes into preparing for this investment — from power and space requirements to tooling and training.

At Park Industries®, we’re committed to helping you make the right decision and setting your shop up for long-term success, while also helping you hit the ground running with your new machine.

It can be tempting to focus just on the price of the machine. But any experienced fabricator will tell you: a machine’s true value to your business is so much more than a price tag. That’s why we’ve created a complete set of resources — including this buyer’s guide, a look at machine pricing, and a helpful FAQ.

Understand what you need to power a stone machine. The right utilities are essential for your machine to run smoothly and efficiently. Buying with Park makes this easy – our team will assist you with every you need to ensure your machine is powered properly.

Power

Park Industries® machines require three-phase electrical power. Voltage requirements vary by machine, so it’s essential to verify your shop’s power capacity. For example, most Park Industries® CNC machines require 480 volt (+/-10%), 3 phase power. Optional transformers are available on select machines as well. Our team will provide machine-specific electrical specs to ensure you’re ready.

Water Recycling & Management System for Stone Machinery

Water

Water is vital for cooling, dust control, and cutting during machine operation. Each machine has specific water flow and pressure requirements. We’ll help you prepare your shop’s water supply to support your machine with the proper PSI required and information on using fresh/recycled water.

Air

Nearly all stone machines require compressed air to operate. For example, a minimum of 80 PSI air is required for our VOYAGER™ XP CNC Saw. Ensuring your shop has a reliable air compressor that meets the needs of your machine is an important part of preparing for installation.

programming

All CNC machines require software to program them, controlling every cut, miter, or polish pass. Park Industries® software makes it easy to maximize the machine’s efficiency and precision. Our team provides in-depth programming training to help your operators confidently set up jobs and keep production running smoothly.

Your shop environment plays a key role in how well your machine operates. From space requirements to your shop floor foundation, it’s important to prepare your workspace before installation.

space

Every machine has a recommended footprint plus additional space for loading, unloading, and material movement. Before purchasing, Park Industries® will help you evaluate your shop’s layout to make sure there is adequate space for both the machine and workflow efficiency.

Foundation

Most machines require a level, reinforced concrete foundation to support their weight and ensure precise operation. Our team will share specific foundation requirements based on the model you select, so you can prepare your space before installation.

Team Mindset

Prepare your team early by explaining why the machine is being added and what changes to expect. Encourage openness to learning and introduce CNC concepts ahead of time. Building buy-in before installation helps ease the transition and sets your shop up for a smoother, faster start.

The right tooling is essential to maximize your machine’s capabilities. From blades to nozzles to router bits, equip your shop with quality tools built for performance. Tooling packages are available with the purchase of the machine, or you can choose to get through your tooling provider. Understand these are consumables for stone machines.

Diamond blades

Diamond blades are critical for making fast, accurate cuts in a variety of materials like granite, quartz, and porcelain. Choosing the right diamond blade is key to achieving the best results, whether you’re cutting straight lines or intricate shapes. Most shops will use multiple blades to accommodate different materials/applications.

Waterjet Nozzles

Waterjet-equipped machines, like the JAVELIN™ or SABERjet™ XP, require precision nozzles to achieve clean, detailed cuts. Proper maintenance and replacement of these nozzles is essential for best results.

Router bits

For CNC routers, like the TITAN®, quality diamond router bits are used to shape and polish edges. Choosing the right bits for your applications will ensure smooth finishes and maximize efficiency.
