Fusion Garnet Alarm

Guide Number: SG1205 | Printer Friendly Version | View Safety Disclaimer

A sensitivity level change in the garnet system is a very common cause of Garnet Flow Alarms. This procedure illustrates the steps to adjust the Garnet Flow Sensor logic board’s sensitivity level. If you have any questions about this procedure or if the adjustment does NOT solve the alarm, please contact Park Industries Customer Service at 1-800-785-3391.

Two individuals are required to execute the steps of this procedure. One stationed at the console and one stationed at the electrical panel.

Fusions have had two different Mini Garnet hoppers. It is easy to differentiate due to the distinct body styles. If your Fusion has the one pictured on the left, it has a slide adjustment usually set at about 5. The one on the right has a round knob adjustment and is usually set at approximately 8.

Move the Fusion to Center the cutting head on the bridge and then move the bridge toward the front of the machine. Stop when there is enough room for a person to access the electrical cabinet while standing on the table. Use a sheet of plywood to stand on if the table cutting surface is too cut up. The person standing at the electrical control panel will need a very small straight blade screwdriver for adjustments.

Before You Start In this procedure you will adjust the SENSE ADJ potentiometer while watching the two LED groups. The following reference points should be used to determine the potentiometer’s setting (see photo below). One end of the slotted center has an arrow head Mentally superimpose analog clock numbers over the potentiometer. In this example the potentiometer is set at about the 4 o’clock position.

  • The person stationed at the Operator console starts the garnet flowing using the steps A through E.
  • Once the Garnet is flowing the Person making adjustments inside the control cabinet slowly turns the ‘SENSE ADJ’ potentiometer clockwise until all eight (8) LED’s illuminate.
  • When the LED’s turn on, the person stationed at the console shuts the pump down in the reverse order E through A.
  • Check and record the SENSE ADJ ‘Arrow’ position. With NO garnet flowing, very slowly turn the SENSE ADJ potentiometer until all eight (8) LED’s turn on.
  • Next, Rotate the SENSE ADJ potentiometer counter clockwise to a position that is halfway between the current position and the position observed in step 9.
  • Repeat steps A through E and check LED’s.
  • Did the LED’s turn on? IF NO, start over at Step 2 and then call Park Customer Service. If Yes, the Fusion may return to Production status.
