Rotary water union replacement

Guide Number: SG0353 | Printer Friendly Version | View Safety Disclaimer

To help ensure you are getting the longest service life from your TITAN 1000 Series’, FabCenter, & DESTINY’s rotary union make sure the following steps are being taken when installing a new rotary union.

Use care when disassembling and reassembly

Always make sure you are using the proper tools. ONLY use the correct size wrench to remove and install the rotary union.

NEVER use a plier or vise-grip type tool, this will distort the shaft and cause the bearings to fail prematurely.

If the fittings on the old rotary union are to be re-used on the new one, remove the fittings from the old rotary union and re-install them on the new union PRIOR to installing it on the spindle.

Clean rotary union prior to dis-assembly to ensure debris does not fall into the spindle when removing the old rotary union. (Wipe with a cloth or blow off with an air hose – do not spray with water). Thoroughly clean out the threads on the spindle prior to re-assembly.

Lubricate the threads of the rotary union with Metaflux. (The same lubricant used for the gripper)

Tighten the rotary union using ONLY the correct tools identified above to the manufacturers recommended torque. Over-tightening will cause premature failure.
Push on the flexible line while using your hand to provide support opposite of the connection.

Make sure ALL flexible lines are able to move freely, DO NOT zip-tie them to adjacent hoses and/or wires.
