Saber Arbor Thread care

Guide Number: SG0284 | Printer Friendly Version | View Safety Disclaimer

It has come to our attention that the threads on inside of the arbor motor could become damaged
beyond the point of use if the adapter is not tightened properly during normal use. If the router tool is not secured into the arbor motor properly at time of installation and throughout the use of the router tool there is potential that the tool will vibrate during cutting and damage the threads. Unfortunately, if the threads in the arbor motor do become damaged to the point it will not hold the router tool, the only option is to swap out the entire motor. The center shaft where the threads are cut into, are a single piece of steel, and cannot be swapped out.

NOTE: If the machine stops during the cutting process for any reason you MUST
carefully maneuver the router tool clear of the stone and re-tighten the router
tool again before restarting the process!

Proper steps for installing router tool

  1. a) Remove the blade from the arbor motor (if it is installed).
    b) Remove the water plug insert from the arbor
    c) Be sure brass arbor nut is tight after removing blade.

Tool Preparation

Coat the threads of the router tool adapter with Anti-Seize

Incremental Router Bit tightening

  1. Thread router tool adapter into arbor and tighten as tight as possible while holding the arbor from spinning
  2. Leaving the wrench on the router tool adapter hold the router tool adapter with one hand. Using a rubber mallet to tap the wrench 5 times with moderate force, this will ensure the router tool is tight and secure in the arbor motor.

Resume normal use with Incremental Router Tool
