FabX™ Brings Fabricators Together in Utah

|

The Fabricator Exchange (FabX) made its second stop of the year in beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah, and it did not disappoint. Over 100 fabricators came together for a full day of insight, inspiration, and connection. With thoughtful presentations, top-notch shop tours, and live machine action, the energy was high and the takeaways were real.

Learning from Those Who Live It

The day’s speakers brought a wide range of ideas and strategies to the table:

Omar Chahin, GMD Surfaces: broke down the concept of Throughput Dollars (T-Dollars) to help fabricators look past square footage and focus on profitability.

Bill & Dawson Cambell, A-One Solid Surfaces: shared their shop’s digital transformation journey, highlighting how they embraced change while keeping a strong focus on family and culture.

Alan Jorgenson, Bedrock Quartz Surfaces: talked through the growth of Bedrock and how they scaled their shop operations to meet demand while staying efficient and forward-thinking.

Dave Amelotte, CFO of Park Industries®: gave an economic update with insights into industry trends and what fabricators should be watching for in the months ahead.

Shop Tours & Machines in Action

Attendees toured two standout local shops, A-One Solid Surfaces and Bedrock Quartz Surfaces, where they saw 15 Park Industries machines in full operation. Among those were the JAVELIN™ CNC Sawjet cutting with precision, plenty of TITAN® CNC Routers shaping/polishing parts, and the FASTBACK® II Edge Polisher delivering glass like flat edges with speed.

Seeing the equipment in action gave attendees a real feel for how digital tools can transform a shop’s output and efficiency.

If you missed the event, you can watch our video, Cutting an Integrated Porcelain Sink with the JAVELIN, to see a similar process in action.

Porcelain Workshop

One of the standout moments at Bedrock Quartz was the porcelain workshop, sponsored by Infinity. Fabricators got a close-up look at how to cut, lay out, and build with porcelain as the Bedrock team walked through the full process of creating a porcelain sink.

Seeing these techniques applied in a real shop environment gave attendees a clear picture of what’s possible with porcelain and how to approach it with confidence.

Connection and Collaboration

Just like in Florida, the conversations were just as valuable as the presentations. Whether on the tour, in breakout chats, or over lunch, fabricators shared their stories, asked questions, and learned from each other. There’s something special that happens when people who live the same challenges come together to exchange ideas.
