Integrated Porcelain Sink on the JAVELIN™ CNC Sawjet (From Beginning to End)

|

Stunning porcelain. Integrated mitered sink. Fully wrapped and freestanding. CNC sawjet beast. LET’S GO!

In this episode of Cut This, Polish That, the JAVELIN™ CNC Sawjet takes on a slab of Cammeo porcelain from Infinity Surfaces to create a stunning integrated sink. We’ll take you from slab scanning to layout, programming, cutting, and final assembly—complete with plenty of porcelain cutting tips along the way.

Porcelain. It continues to be a growing trend in the stone industry for a wide variety of applications including showers, fireplaces, and even countertops. Park Industries was excited to team up with Infinity Surfaces for this episode to provide some insight into how to cut porcelain efficiently and demonstrate our machines capabilities.

Before the cutting began, the slab was scanned with the SlabVision™ Slab Scanner to capture a high resolution digital image of this highly detailed slab. Its powerful tMatch software provided an intuitive 3D layout environment to veinmatch and build our parts out over the slab.

The DXF of the layout seamlessly integrated into Alphacam CAD software to create the cut sheet fast and easy. With our Park EZ Buttons, like the ultracompact automation function, we were able to program for tension band cutting, set ramp in/ramp out speeds, and create an optimized porcelain program.

At the push of a button, the porcelain sink was cut on the JAVELIN CNC Sawjet in just over an hour. It consisted of over 60 cuts, with over 50% of them being miter cuts between the blade and waterjet. The results? Sharp miters and clean parts.

We then had our friends at Leon’s Countertops (who use their JAVELIN for similar work) help us put this sink together. See the finished sink below or in the video above!
