In this episode of Cut This, Polish That, we take on a project loaded with high-end details, including a full-height fluted backsplash, outlet cutouts, sink and faucet holes, polished edges, and a waterfall panel.
To complete the job, we paired the VOYAGER® XP CNC Saw with the SPARTAN™ Compact CNC Router. Together, this CNC duo gives fabricators the versatility to cut, shape, polish, and add detailed design features while keeping production moving.

This project gave both machines the opportunity to show their strengths and versatility.
VOYAGER XP CNC Saw
The VOYAGER XP handled the saw work, including cutting, mitering, inside corners, outlet cutouts, and fluting on the full-height backsplash.
SPARTAN Compact CNC Router
The SPARTAN handled the finishing work, including sink cutting, drilling for sink anchors and the faucet hole, and edge polishing. It also used sloping to fully process and polish the fluted waterfall panel.
A Dynamic Duo of CNCs
One of the biggest takeaways from this project is how well the VOYAGER XP and SPARTAN complement each other. There is a lot of crossover between the two machines. The VOYAGER XP could have also cut the sink and faucet holes, while the SPARTAN could have done the outlet openings and fluted the backsplash.
The versatility and redundancy between this duo gives fabricators more ways to route work through the shop based on schedule, machine availability, and current bottlenecks.
Fast, Efficient Production
Even with the detailed fluting work, this project was completed in under two hours of machine time. More than half of that time was spent on fluting, a process that can be extremely time-consuming when done manually.
