Evolution Marble & Granite produces 80 to 100 kitchens a week from a small-footprint shop, with the JAVELIN increasing production by 30% and showing what’s possible when efficiency and the right equipment come together.
Evolution Marble & Granite
Based in Union, New Jersey, Evolution Marble & Granite was founded by Joe DeMelo and his business partner, Chris. After meeting while working together in 2005, the two shared a goal of eventually opening their own fabrication shop. They made that goal a reality in 2017.
“We always had this dream of opening our own shop,” Joe says. Since then, the company has grown rapidly by investing in equipment that allows its team to serve commercial customers while also taking on detailed, high-end work.

Evolution Marble & Granite began investing in Park equipment early in its growth. The shop first added a FUSION CNC Sawjet, followed by the FASTBACK II Edge Polisher and SABERjet XP CNC Sawjet.
“I remember when I first called Park,” Joe says. “We were growing rapidly, and we bought our first machine, which was the FUSION. After that, we bought the FASTBACK and then the SABERjet.”
The SABERjet XP introduced 45-degree waterjet mitering to their operation, opening the door to more detailed work. “To be able to do 45-degree mitering with the waterjet was really a game changer,” Joe explains.
As demand continued to rise, Evolution added a TITAN CNC Router and, five months later, a JAVELIN CNC Sawjet.
BIG PRODUCTION IN A SMALL-FOOTPRINT SHOP
Evolution Marble & Granite uses its sawjets for different areas of the business. The SABERjet XP supports high-end work involving marble, detailed vein matching, and precision miters, while the JAVELIN gives the shop the added capacity needed to handle significant production within a relatively small footprint.
“The JAVELIN plays more into production,” Joe explains. “The size of the table is bigger than the SABERjet, and you can definitely get some miter capabilities on the JAVELIN.”
Its two-table configuration gives the team more room to load work and keep material moving through the shop. Joe sums it up simply: “The double table, it’s a monster.”
Since adding the JAVELIN, Evolution Marble & Granite has increased production by approximately 30%. The shop now produces between 80 and 100 kitchens each week while continuing to serve both high-volume commercial work and detail-focused residential projects.
Finished Faster with the TITAN
The TITAN CNC Router helps Evolution Marble & Granite move pieces from fabrication to completion much faster than manual methods.
“You press start, and three and a half hours later, all the product is finished, on the table, put in the cart, and ready to go,” Joe says.
Work that previously required approximately two days of manual labor can now be completed in 10 to 12 hours with the TITAN. This allows the team to increase capacity without sacrificing the finished quality customers expect.
A Must-Have FASTBACK II
For flat-edge polishing, Joe considers the FASTBACK II one of the most valuable machines a fabricator can add.
“The FASTBACK is probably one of the first pieces of equipment you should get in your shop,” he says. “It’s very easy to use, and it’s a very underrated machine, but it just helps the shop so much.”
The process is simple and repeatable. Pieces enter one side and come out as a finished product, helping the team maintain quality while keeping work moving.
From a Few Kitchens to 100 Per Week
The impact of Evolution’s Park equipment is clear in its production growth.
“We probably were doing three kitchens a day,” Joe says of the shop’s early output. “With our first saw, we went to four or five kitchens. With the second saw, we jumped to anywhere between 10 to 18 kitchens a day.”
Today, the company produces as many as 100 kitchens per week. That growth has allowed a relatively small shop to compete for larger projects and deliver the turnaround times its customers require.
